Abortion was definitely on the ballot this week, not just in California, but in Michigan, Vermont and Kentucky. California's Proposition 1 won big; it was the leading vote-getter of any measure or candidate on the state ballot in the midterm elections. That means the right to an abortion and contraception will be protected in the state constitution.
Voters didn't just pass Prop 1; it appears that a large turnout of people concerned about abortion rights helped make a difference in some close congressional races, too.
