Hadley was born on 7/27/19. Shortly after her birth, a vigilant nurse discovered a small lump on Hadley’s tailbone - which would eventually lead us to Boston Children’s Hospital.
Although in shock, with a brand-new baby and a Hadley’s older sister Maren,1.5-year-old at home, they brought Hadley to Boston Children’s Hospital.
The family feels so fortunate to live near, and have access to, one of the top pediatric hospitals in the world. Hadley’s first stop was an appointment at BCH at just 5 days of age. This quickly led to an inpatient admission for further evaluation and testing. At 13 DAYS old, Hadley was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer that develops from immature nerve cells and can occur in several areas of the body (in Hadley’s case, the sacrococcygeal area, aka the tailbone area).
Her team worked quickly, and her first round of Chemotherapy started when she was 18 days old.
