Show Notes

We've gone deep to find our perfect Google Photos replacement. This week we'll share our setup that we think works great, is easy to use, and is fully backed up.

trying to sneak this in for the Live show; wanted to point out 3 projects that help me w/map location searches. On Android, I use an app called Acastus Photon (github.com/gjedeer/Acastus), which can search for POIs, then let you open the result in your map/nav tool of choice. by default it uses the Photon project public instance (photon.komoot.io) but can be self-hosted. Alternatively can use the Pelias project (pelias.io) which also can be self hosted/used via geocode.earth. Safe travels!

I try to listen to all the episodes as they come out! However sometimes (such as during the summer) I get few weeks behind. Been slowly catching up, almost there!

Great recommendations for images backup solutions. For me these are more experiments to be added for the long sitting raspberry pi’s 4 in the drawer of shame (#Alex) Have a nice road trip and Keep up the good work!

I agree with Seth Wes said (think he said it, a bit tired) that things doesn’t need to fully open source, it is more important to escape the big bad actors at times. Cheers from Norway.

I mostly listen to the most recent episodes as they come out. Occasionally something will be mentioned that may cause me to go into the archives though. I've found fountain to be really annoying for short podcasts due to the lack of auto play but for longer podcasts it's fine-ish. That said it does supply the sats I send you. Mostly Im listening to podcasts as I drive about at work. I'm a truck driver in the grocery supply chain and conservative talk fear mongering ain't my thing.

i am boosting with the first Sats i made on the Fountain app. But i really want to know when we will get another episode with Noah on it? i fou d JB through the Ask Noah Show back in 2017 and after the ACG situation was "resolved" i had hoped to hear Noah back on more regularly. Still love listening, oh and though short lived the Life & RV Podcast was one of my favorites, followed by by a 2 way tie between Self Hosted and The Bitcoin Dad Pod.
