Magnolia Contreras, Vice President of Community Health at Dana-Farber joins the show

Magnolia joined Dana-Farber in 2007 and currently serves as the Vice President of Community Health. 

  • In this role, she is charged with helping the Institute carry out its community benefits mission through the delivery of evidence-based cancer prevention, screening, and early detection programs. 
  • She is committed to making Dana-Farber's care and research findings more accessible to everyone. 
  • Magnolia and her team work with city and state health departments, community partners, and Boston-based coalitions to assess and monitor the needs of local residents with respect to cancer control. 
  • They are on the front lines to support and collaborate on programs to eliminate disparities in breast, colon, and skin cancer; educate diverse populations about tobacco cessation, human papillomavirus (HPV) prevention and screening. 
  • Aside from her work at Dana-Farber, Magnolia serves on the Board of Directors of the Economic Development Industrial Corporation of Lynn, advocating for low interest loans to small business owners including minority business owners. 
  • Prior to joining Dana-Farber, Ms. Contreras was employed by AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts where she served in senior executive roles as the Director of External Affairs and Director of Public Policy and Community Relations. Additionally, she had a consulting services practice in non-profit management and political coaching and research.
