San Francisco said its official goodbye to Dianne Feinstein today, with an hour-long tribute to the late Senator and Mayor. The Vice President and dozens of members of Congress attended the memorial service on the steps of San Francisco City Hall
For almost an hour, the speakers shared memories of the late Senator Feinstein, telling personal stories and paying tribute to her dogged determination, her steady leadership and her attention to detail as a legislator for more than three decades.
As heard live here on KCBS, the assembled friends, family and dignitaries heard from Mayor London Breed, Vice President Kamala Harris, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Speaker Emerit Nancy Pelosi and most poignantly, Feinstein's 31-year-old granddaughter, Eileen Mariano.
There were thirty U-S Senators on hand for the service along with at least a dozen members of the House, Governor Newsom, former governor Jerry Brown and three of Dianne Feinstein's successors as Mayor...Art Agnos, Frank Jordan and Willie Brown.
The service was punctuated throughout by the roar of the Blue Angels, practicing overhead for Fleet Week, buzzing City Hall not for an official flyover, but simply to get their practice runs in before this weekend's air show.
