Or our words can protect us.Our words can make evil plans. Or our words can encourage and help other people. We have a choice.Verse 4Everybody desires good things. A person should work and earn money. Then he can buy the things that he desires. In Chapter 3 of the Book of James we read:5So the tongue is also a little member, and boastsgreat things. See how a small fire can spread to a largeforest! 6And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquityamong our members is the tongue, which defiles thewhole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and isset on fire by Gehenna. 7For every kind of animal, bird, creeping thing, and sea creature, is tamed, and has beentamed by mankind. 8But nobody can tame the tongue. Itis a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9With it we blessour God and Father, and with it we curse men, who aremade in the image of God. 10Out of the same mouthcomes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these thingsought not to be so.In Psalm 141 is this wise prayer that I often (but notalways often enough) pray: 3Set a watch, Yahweh, before mymouth. Keep the door of my lips.Verse 4 reminds us that we were not created to sitaround and have everything handed to us on a silver platter.
