Listen, can we stop with the Stepping? Steppin out … Step Parents … Step Children.

I am a firm believer that when you bring a family together the word Step should not be in your vocabulary at all. But how about this, MEN stop with the jumping from women to women. Gosh it is tiring, do you know that? Just think about the future. Think about your children's wedding. The seating arrangement is a nightmare. Okay let's talk about your funeral, which wife will be declared...sigh I can't deal. Just stop Stepping lol.

On a serious note, this conversation is about a multi racial family and a blended family. Lot's of lessons.

Vanessa Ungapembe is the first born in a family of seven. She is an honors Law Degree graduate with an aspiration to contribute to the economic growth of Malawi by addressing some social economic challenges from household level, i.e. providing mothers a rare opportunity of nursing their children in safe 'free' daycares as they go through a series of trainings that will make them more competitive in the job market. As a first born, she delved into the leadership role at a young age which birthed her passion and interest in 'people.'

Vanessa's sustained refusal to the status quo earned her a place as a Malawi-Representative with the Mi-Lead fellowship program where she interacted with the likes of Kwame Nkrumah and the late Mia Angelo. She is also a YALI fellow and believes that "Good leadership is, among other things, understanding that change is a tool that aids us in bringing life to the things we 'perceive' dead rather than that which buries them further in the ground."
