Join us as we talk about defying expectations and stereotypes that are manifested by society, culture, family and even ourselves, with a guest that has done this time and again. Lauren Tom is an Obie Award winning actress, known for her roles as a dutiful daughter in the highly acclaimed film, The Joy Luck Club, as Ross’s girlfriend, Julie, on the classic NBC sitcom Friends and most recently Mrs. Tran on Supernatural. As a Chinese American, Lauren has broken the mold as an actress and artist throughout her career—becoming the first Asian American on the Broadway musical, A Chorus Line, the first person of color on the cast of Friends, a successful voice over actress and a lead in the first entirely Asian cast in The Joy Luck Club. As a result, Lauren has paved the way for other Asian Americans in the entertainment industry. Working alongside the likes of Richard Gere, Robin Williams and Billy Bob Thorton among others, her journey is spectacular and her personality is endearing. Fans of Friends may have been “Team Rachel” viewers, but you will leave this interview loving Lauren and all she represents. https://www.instagram.com/shesa10times5/
