With just over four weeks to go, the November Midterms are shaping up to be a high-profile affair where recent state-by-state polling shows a tightening of races across the country. Three factors loom large as these races narrow – how voters see the state of the economy, the performance of the Biden administration, and the general sense of whether they would vote for a Democrat or Republican in general.
This three-part “test” is then framed by issues beyond the pocketbook to include the influence of the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Dobbs over abortion rights as well as issues related to crime and policing and culture war issues such as teaching about race and gender. All of this wraps up soon and as ballots head to voters this week in California – and as early voting begins in five states this week across the nation – today we wanted to get a sense of the races and Midterm campaigns here in California.
So how do we make sense of these developments and what comes next here a as we turn to the 2022 Midterm elections?
For more, KCBS Radio news anchors Bret Burkhart and Patti Reising were joined by Sonoma State Political Scientist Dr. David McCuan to speak with Darry Sragow, Political Strategist and Publisher of the, “California Target Book.“
