As demand for FDA-approved diabetes and obesity injectables (also known as weight-loss medications) soars, harmful fakes have become pervasive in the market. The problem has prompted recent warnings from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and drug makers about surges in unsafe counterfeit and compounded versions of the popular medications. Authorities have already taken action, shutting down over 250 websites that sold these dangerous knockoffs.
