Welcome to The Daily Quote – a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I’m your host, Andrew McGivern, for January 28th.
Now, today is Global Community Engagement Day. It’s a day to celebrate the power of coming together and contributing to something bigger than yourself, whether that’s building a stronger neighborhood, connecting through shared interests online, or working toward a common goal.
Today’s quote from Coretta Scott King is one that speaks perfectly to this theme:
“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.”
What I love about this quote is how it shifts the focus from size or influence to something far more meaningful—compassion. It’s not about how many people are in the community or how impressive its achievements look on paper; it’s about how people in that group treat one another and work together.
Whether it’s volunteering for a food drive, supporting a local business, or joining an online forum to share ideas and offer help, compassionate actions are the glue that holds communities together. Sure, community engagement takes effort, and not every day will feel like a heartwarming Hallmark movie—but it’s always worth it.
And speaking of communities, today is also Thank a Plugin Developer Day! These are the unsung heroes who create tools that help us build connections and improve how we work together, especially online.
I've got a few Plugin Developers I'd like to thank!
First up, I want to thank Veena Prasanth, the brilliant developer behind Smart Quiz Builder, Digital Access Pass, and Smart Forum Builder. That last one, Smart Forum Builder, deserves a special shoutout— because it’s perfect for creating vibrant, interactive online communities.
I also want to highlight the team at Captivate, the podcast hosting service I use. Their plugin makes managing this show a breeze right from my website.
I won’t get too deep into the technical weeds—I know I got in trouble for going on podcasting tangent a while back (from a hall of fame podcaster by the way)—but if you’re curious, links are in the show notes.

OptimizePress is another fantastic tool for creating marketing pages, and FluentCRM has made email marketing automation both easy and affordable. These plugins don’t just make life easier—they empower people to engage with their audiences more effectively, fostering community in ways big and small.
So, as you go about your day, think about the communities you’re a part of and the ways you can engage with compassion. Whether it’s saying thank you to someone who’s made a difference, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up, your actions matter more than you know.
That’s it for today’s episode. Thank you for spending a few minutes with me here on The Daily Quote. If today’s message inspired you, share it with someone who might need a little encouragement.
I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off for today, but I'll be back tomorrow, same pod time, same pod station for another Daily Quote!
