Heather was diagnosed with lung cancer in January 2012 and was enrolled in a clinical trial at Dana-Farber. She spent four years on the clinical trial, benefiting from Dana-Farber’s strength at bringing groundbreaking research from the lab to the bedside. Now 14 years after her diagnosis, Heather is thriving and living a full life along the coast of Maine, where she enjoys beading, walking, and joking that she’s “sort of interesting.” Dr. Jänne received his MD and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996. He completed postgraduate training in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and in medical oncology at DFCI in 2001.
