Mark 6:1-3 (ESV)
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
6 He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him.
2 And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
Introduction
Our great salvation includes more than the salvation of our souls, which is the free gift of God when we put faith and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
It includes more than new bodies and a heavenly home, which our Lord is preparing for those who love Him.
Our salvation involves living the heavenly way of life here and now in the power of the risen and living Lord.
It is by Jesus’ substitutionary death and His victorious resurrection that He saves us from the penalty of sin.
It is by the Holy Spirit’s authoritative teaching as heaven’s infallible and inerrant Teacher and by His work within our hearts that we experience spiritual transformation.
Paul declared concerning those that have experienced the new birth that God has “predetermined that they shall be conformed to the image of His son”
