California’s moratorium on evictions, which has been in place for more than a year because of the pandemic, finally runs out and will expire on September 30.
With about seven percent of California tenants behind on their rent, tenants and their advocates fear the worst, bracing for a flood of evictions. But will that happen right away? Will landlords move quickly to kick people out, worsening what is already a terrible homelessness crisis?
