My wife and I are selling our home. Our good friend is a real estate agent and he offered to represent us in the sale for only a 3% commission. We agreed after he did some comps in the area and suggested an asking price. It hasn’t been listed yet. Now all of a sudden, his son is interested in buying and we are thinking we need a third party appraisal based on the apparent conflict of interest between him representing us as the sellers and also his son as buyer. He is insulted and says that appraisal is unnecessary since he already did it. I’m unsure. Is this normal? ethical? Legal? Thanks.
