Colossians 3:1-17
"The most dangerous heresies the church is called on to combat from time to time are not those which openly and blatantly assail the person of our Lord but rather those which subtly detract from His dignity while giving the appearance of honoring Him.” - Everett Harrison
1. Keep Seeking v. 1-2
a. Shop around.
Unless you try on the outfit, you’ll never know if it fits. Do the same with vocations, avocations, hobbies and skills. You’ll need to sample every flavor to know your true favorite taste. (I’m not making this up!)
b. Find a problem to solve.
Being the solution makes your work feel meaningful. Having an issue to work against also gives you a villain to play against—and makes you the hero.
c. Burn your plans.
Your life will not go according to plan. Nobody’s ever has. So don’t worry if you get off track. The track was imaginary anyway.
2. Set Your Mind on Christ v.2, 5-10
-Matthew 13:15
3. Hide v.3, 12-14
Grace covers us completely (John 1:14; Ephesians 2:8–9; 2 Timothy 1:9).
God chose us and calls us friend (Ephesians 1:4; John 15:15).
We have forgiveness (1 John 1:9; Ephesians 1:7).
God provides for all of our needs (Philippians 4:19).
We have the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7; John 14:27).
