What the heck is going on? Fedora is dropping features, GNOME is getting Iced, and the mistake we'll never make again. We've got a lot to sort out.

Of course you start talking about a Toronto meetup just as I move out of that area. When's the Munich meetup?

Huge shout out to Wes for stating something that bothers me about the Linux community in general. I think we are too hard on new projects. I’ve played around with Rust bindings for gtk, and even though the devs did a really great job at it, it still feels like C came first and Rust came second, because that is exactly what happened. Iced sounds great, and I’m interested in giving it a shot.

I’ll never get over google reader being discontinued, even though I’ve moved on to a better product. The only way I would ever use google again would be if they had a product that absolutely no one else had, and even then it’s not a guarantee because of privacy concerns.

Niccolo Ve has a good video about the fedora codecs stuff. He explains that red hat could not wait until they get sued because knowingly violating a patent is 3x the fine of unknowingly violating the patent. Once they found out, they had to act quickly. Sure, I'd like to have the codecs, but I'm not paying anything for fedora, and like you said most people will probably find workarounds. I find Linux users can be very entitled sometimes. You're right, they could license it, they are rich.

thought your coverage regarding the system76 gnome was done respectfully. it seems both sides are quite defensive based on past experiences. that said, I saw some of Jeremy’s first tweet in my flow and was disappointed in his response. I saw people respectfully asking questions about why iced and his responses didn’t represent in a good light. thanks for the awesome content.

Regarding the cookie stuff in brave / unlock, I think it doesn't confirm or reject bit just hides the whole form. If the website complies with regulations properly, not acting at all should be the same as rejecting everything. Still, many many websites do this wrong. I've even had one load for 15 seconds after I rejected to "save my cookie preferences"
