California continues to look for ways it can help Ukraine fight off the Russian invasion and mount pressure on Vladimir Putin. The latest effort is to hurt Russia financially, by divesting state pension funds from Russian assets.
The introduction of a bipartisan bill in the state legislature, followed a day later by Governor Newsom calling for divestiture and writing to the big state pension funds to demand that they withdraw over a billion dollars in assets from Russian investments.
