Ahh yes, the tale of Gille De Rais...a dastardly man of great battlefield escapades in 1400 France, and murderous rampages off the battlefield. A man who built his own castle, and decided he needed to purify his own soul from damnation by building his own church. He is lamented in history as being one of the first ever documented serial killer's, even though the term was not coined until centuries later. Known as the killer of children, having reportedly tortured and murdered over 100 children over a 10 year period...the kidnapping of a priest, and apparently the threat of torture proved to much for Gill, along with the damnation of his soul.
