Food insecurity is on the rise in California.
A COVID-era policy previously allowed the state to issue Emergency Allotments, or EAs for families to receive maximum benefits through the CalFresh program.
But earlier this year, Emergency Allotments ended, and it's had a big impact on the number of hungry households and food banks that are struggling to keep up with demand.
