Governor Newsom is bringing in the heavy hitters as the recall race hits a fever pitch. Vice President Kamala Harris returned to her native East Bay, just six days away from the election, to rally voters against the recall, and her mentor, former president Obama, is getting involved too.
The Newsom campaign today unveiled a new TV ad cut by former president Obama, in which he speaks directly into the camera and urges Californians to reject the recall. Vice President Harris came in person to a union hall parking lot in San Leandro, alongside Newsom and all the statewide elected Democrats except Senators Padilla and Feinstein, to address a crowd of union members and Newsom supporters, and more importantly Californians watching and listening via the media.
The message was clear and simple: vote NO on the recall, either by mail, early voting or on election day. President Biden may well come to California too, perhaps Monday, likely to Southern California, to give Newsom an 11th hour boost and maximize turnout in Tuesday’s election.
