Hey everyone and welcome to Refinery Life Church.
Thinking about the Cross is the theme for Tuesday evenings in April.
As Christians, we live with the inspiration of a crucified and risen Saviour.
God’s gift to us on the cross motivates us to unselfish service.
Today’s message is titled The Theology of the Cross.
When we look at the cross, we can easily become preoccupied with the details of the agonising death, the mocking crowd, and the darkened skies.
While we should never forget what people did to Jesus that day, the significance of the cross lies in what Jesus did for people.
Paul turned again and again to the cross and made it central to his theology, the cross was the instrumental the amazing act of love and self sacrifice that set people free.
Paul preached Christ as crucified because on the cross Refinished His work as mediator between God and people.
Paul told the Galatians in Galatians 6:14, But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
As we seek to understand the theology of the cross, lets think in the broadest terms possible beginning at the outer court and moving toward the centre.
