It is important to remember that a positive response on our part as believers to the Father’s gift of the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential if we are to truly be God’s people.
Today we are discussing The Gift of Preaching.

11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds[a] and teachers,
Introduction
I once read this job description for a pastor, it was titled “The Pastors easy Job.”
His job is something like a football in a grand final, he is knocked on one side and then on the other.
If he writes a a text, it is too short, if he writes an email, it is too long, if he creates printed newsletters he is wasting money.
If he attempts to safeguard the interests of the church, he is trying to run things, if he does not, he is allowing things to go to the dogs.
If he attends extra meetings of the church, he is an intruder, if he does not he isn’t doing his job.
If the attendance is low, nobody likes him anyway, if he tries to help, he is a pest.
If he calls for he offering, all he thinks about is money, if the offering is not good, he is to blame.
If he is in a smiling mood, he is frivolous, if he is serious, he is cranky.
If he seeks advice, he is incompetent, if he doesn’t, he is bullheaded.
If he mixes with the members of the church, he is too familiar, if he doesn’t, he is too good for them.
So, ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if others won’t do it, the pastor must.
The pastor, in the final analysis, is accountable to God.
His or her successes or failures are not to be determined by a person, committee, or congregation, but by how faithful he or she is to God.
