Hey guys, longtime listener and party member, first time booster. Still not convinced of the whole crypto thing, but here's some sats to help get episode 500 to the top of the charts.

Happy 500 to Linux Unplugged and the whole JB community! Im not usually a fountain user, but I wanted to help secure LUP at the top of the charts for episode 500. I've been listening since episode 400, and the whole JB line up have become some of my favorite shows.

Thank you so much for the show! I have been a listening to the network since episode 29 (back in 2007) and have built a career using Linux. LAS and LUP have taught me so much over the years. Keep up the great work!

Congrats on episode 500! About 8 years ago I searched for “What is the best Linux podcast?” Because I wanted to learn more about Linux and opensource software. That is how I found JB and I have been enjoying your content ever since then. JB makes content that is fun, educational and has a high production value. Thanks so much for many years of great content. Listening to you every week for so many years makes you feel like family. I wish you all the best and hope to be boosting for episode 1000!

I have to say, you guys have been an interesting influence. Since starting listening to you, I have taken a laptop to OpenSuse Tumbleweed, spun up Nextcloud, loaded up Tailscale, and swapped my phone to GrapheneOS to begin the long march to de-googling most of my life. Thank you and keep it up for another 500 episodes.

Since some people started boosting in with their zip codes. I'll contribute mine, although I don't live in the states. I live in Denmark and the boost amount is my zip code here. Thanks for 500 brilliant episodes and here's to 500 more!

I don’t get to listen live often, but for this episode, I made a point of trying. Sadly, the tech gods have frowned upon me. The live stream seems to only last about 15 seconds before crashing. It’s probably in my end since I’m only on my iPhone, but it doesn’t look like I’ll get it fixed today. Have a great show and I’ll catch the bootleg when it’s out. 😢

Happy 500 episodes. I have gotten a lot out of listening to LUP and has inspired me to create this. I wanted my first Python and GitHub project to be ready for episode 500. The code works just not as polished as I would like it. The project is a headless peertube seeder that can run in a docker container. Just put the channel's API URL in the docker compose as an environment variable. Any help and recommendations is appreciated as I am a noob. https://github.com/tyrsarm/peertube-headless-seeder

In 499 someone else boosted my favorite number of sats to boost, but it seemed like nobody got the reference. For those that don't know, 2600HZ was the frequency tone to reset a trunk line and make free long distance calls. Captain Crunch was the nickname of John Draper who figured out you could make the right frequency with the plastic whistle that came in a box of capt. crunch. Just dial any free 1-800 number, fiddle with your wistle to reset the line, then dial the actual number you wanted.

Chris your story on how you started JB and your passion for Linux mirrors how I felt when I first started listening. back in 2019 my gaming PC decided to let the magic smoke out.all I had left was a old 32bit era laptop that was struggling to keep up with windows. did some research, found linux and after installing I was amazed by how that old computer was usable again and the endless possibilities. shortly after I found JB and my excitement for computers was reignited.

On the wifi issue, that was why i went back to windows when i initially attempted a switch in college. The network drivers just weren't quite up to snuff as they mostly are now. Hope to be in quiet listening/maybe making a comment or two on air on 500! Thanks for another wonderful show

The wifi issue I have seen in as Early as Lenovo Tiny with 4th gen I5. I was able to fix the problem by going to advance settings in the power plan and on PCI Express>Link State Power Management and set it to off. Linux might have a similar setting somewhere. This is not always an option and until listening to the show I figured it was something with Lenovo Tiny (which is a laptop in mini desktop form) but it might be because of PCIe lanes sharing with SSD, which Lenovo doesn't do, but others do

Hey guys, just started using fountain after switching to GrapheneOS on my Pixel 6! I was inspired after you guys made the switch, but never got around to it until a month or so ago when I heard that Apple was still scanning user media. Now I am happily syncing everything to my NextCloud instance, and I run Linux on every machine including my work machines. could not be happier going completely FLOSS! Thank you guys for the great content and I am looking forward to episode 500! (hello from 61813)
