Hey everyone I’m Pastor Gary Hoban and welcome to season 2 episode 2 of Refinery Life radio /TV.
Our goal here is to release a 2-3 minute video / Podcast each day, designed to challenge you and get you to spend more time with God.
Today we are going to talk about, A personal training plan.
1 Corinthians 9:27 (ESV)
27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control,[a] lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
Self control.
Discipline.
Getting in shape.
A commitment to stick to a plan.
How many times have you written down your goals or even thought about them just before January 1?
Its not surprising to know that losing weight is the most common goal people set, and it would be safe to say this doesn’t change year after year.
This is what gyms around the world set up for, an influx of new customers and increased profits January more than any other time of year.
And then sometime around February, we come to our senses.
As followers of Christ, we should maintain self control and discipline, especially when it comes to taking care of our bodies.
Getting in shape and making a commitment to stay that way honours God.
He has given us our bodies through the miracle of creation.
Taking care of them, watching what we put into them, and being careful of how we use them each day are responsibilities we need to adopt.
This mind set is not only important for our physical bodies, but also our spiritual side, for the work and training we do and the commitment we make to ourselves and to God.
We commit to learn more about Him and about how we can be better disciples.
This can not be a passive journey.
It takes commitment and repetition, constantly working at it for the best results.
And results will happen as we grow closer to Him.
Real success in achieving goals comes when we know that we cannot do it on our own, and look to the Lord for strength.
Where do you need to improve?
Is it more time in the gym or out walking, to take care of the temple God gave you?
Or is it getting to know Him better, spending more time in the Word and with God in prayer?
Can I suggest that we all need to work on both on a regular basis.
Ask God to be your personal trainer, to be there when you need to be pushed a bit harder.
He will give you the strength to help make your goals a reality.
Until Tomorrow
Stay in the Blessings
