About our Guest:
I’ve been writing SF and fantasy since the 1980s, with two novels and over 50 short stories in places including Asimov’s, Fantasy and Science Fiction, Galaxy, and Analog.
I recently received word that my third novel, The Cadaver Princess, will be published by Experimenter Publishing, part of Amazing Stories.
The novel is set in London in 1831. Bodysnatching is common, as people sell them to anatomists at medical schools for teaching purposes. The latest shows up at one Dr. Sheppard, and sits up and talks, claiming to be the heir to the throne, Princess Victoria. Sheppard’s assistant, a young Senegalese man – captured by slavers and freed – is Pablo Mansong, who helps Victoria get her bearings and discovers the plot to replace her and have her rule as a puppet. But there are dark forces, ancient wizards, demons, and music that can drive people mad, all of which require Pablo to work to thwart them.
I’ve been writing hidden historical fantasies, where the fantastic elements do not contradict the actual historical facts. It’s been something I’ve been writing for several years.
Outside of writing, I’ve been involved in SF conventions. I’ve done programming for Albacon and will be the con chair for this year’s event. I’ve also run it for Astronomicon, and for last year’s Buffalo NASFiC. Quite a few years ago, I was treasurer of SFWA for three years.
I also blog about movies and other forms of entertainment at greatbutforgotten.blogspot.com.
I’m retired after 25 years in the IT department at Siena College. I live in Schenectady with my wife Susan.
