I'm thinking a post for each new episode with comments and whatnot

Since you guys started talking about the shift in podcast advertising, I've noticed several podcasts and podcast networks I listen to doubling or even tripling up on ads, as well as starting membership subscriptions at the same time.

regarding packaging on distros: Ubuntu Mate enabled flatpak along with snaps in 22.04. This has been a fantastic experience for me. Initially I found it beneficial to quickly switch Firefox from snap to flakpak. Now I can use whatever packaging system works best for the application I am installing. The Ubuntu Mate team have made this easy. it is a really under appreciated feature.

I predict that JB will start it's own Mastodon server in 2023. I am calling it. I know how Chris thinks, the seed has been planted.

first boost! Just started my first software engineer job this year after a decade as a musician and educator. It was a difficult change but Linux Unplugged and Self Hosted really helped me get into the tech world and have something to be excited about. thanks for what you do, I’ll boost in again when I have some more sats!

I tried to build out a smaller mastodon server for a small community ~50+ peeps.Later i had to kill it in the beta trial. As it was obvious that even if was really put hours and automation in place . the instance needs loads of resource mostly for storage and the bigger issue. Massive moderation at least a couple of person with the good moral compass to make it happen, depends on size

128 sats says gif! If the SNR is high enough I’d be interested in trying out social networks again. My main issue with twitter and all the others has been how much garbage I’ve run into on them. It sounds like it might be an interesting experiment. Can JB set up a social network that keeps me social! :D. So far you’re batting 1000, I’m stil on matrix, admittedly, only in JBs general chat.
