✔️ Purpose is where wound and opportunity meet. Expert love coach, Antia Boyd, shares that her life's work came to be from wounds growing up in an emotionally absent household in communist eastern Germany. Having a mom who was a narcissist contributed to her low self-esteem, which became evident in her relationships.
✔️ A walking contradiction. Antia lived a conflicted life; on the one hand, wanting to have that deeply-connected long-term relationship, and on the other hand, thinking she didn't need a man. "I'm sure many women can relate to that to keep themselves safe. Guess what? We're living in a universe of reflection. So what you send out, that's what you get back. And so I attracted men into my life who were also conflicted inside of that self. They were emotionally unavailable."
✔️ When you learn all the information but still can't figure out the answers. Internal integration is necessary to avoid the self-sabotaging habits that come up in the dating process.
✔️ The first step is to stop hiding. Anything that you're afraid to be found out about, feeling like you're just selfish, too needy, too much, too loud, or too intense. These aspects make you who you are, a vulnerable and imperfect human. Others cannot love you if you do not love everything that you are.
✔️ Men will test you unconsciously, especially those afraid of intimacy. Antia says to "advocate for yourself" in the court of love. "We're always making a case why we can't trust the men and get hurt by them. But why not make a case about all your attributes inside yourself being incredible and highly magnetic, and you can bring in the right man by becoming like a lighthouse so he can find you in the middle of the night?"
✔️ Be willing to be wrong. 🙅 Are you too scared of accepting love or affection? Do you unknowingly push people away and deny yourself being cared for, believing it makes you weak? A marriage that ended in divorce drives us to live in fear. However, it will require a new level of courage if we desire to take the path to a new life. Become aware and stop looking for what will go wrong. Embrace the fear of getting hurt, and then try again.
✔️ When a man truly loves you, he accepts you. Your biggest challenge will actually be accepting yourself. When you are given compliments and find them offensive, assess through what lenses you accept them. He may not be a sweet talker or a schmoozer, but your low perception of yourself can influence how you think of others' sincerity towards you.
