There is yet another candidate jumping into the race for U.S. Senate in California. The field is already crowded with high profile Democrats and a few Republicans, but now a Republican with a very well known name is joining the fray.
That new Republican candidate is Steve Garvey, a Southern California baseball legend who was a star first baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1970s and 80s, and also played for the San Diego Padres. He was a 10-time All-Star, an MVP, a World Series champion and really the iron man at the heart of those great Dodger teams. But this is his first foray into politics, at age 74, and you have to wonder how many of today’s voters even remember his great baseball career.
For more on the campaign, KCBS Radio news anchors Patti Reising and Bret Burkart and KCBS political reporter Doug Sovern spoke with the candidate himself in today's edition of The State of California.
