The Cross that is often placed before us in our churches and our homes is a sanitized cross, a cleaned up cross. It is easy for us to forget how terrible a scandal and a death it was for Jesus Christ to die on the Cross. 

And yet the Cross is not darkness but light and in the light of the Cross we see all things in its light. Christ Crucified is the standard by which all things must be judged.
