One of the greatest attributes of the Holy Spirit is His ability to transform our desires, once we submit them to him. The bible is crystal clear that there is the Fruit of the Spirit and the works of the flesh and both are in constant tension trying to manifest themselves. As our minds are renewed God literally transforms our desires so that they are pleasing to him.
Romans 12.1-2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
