In this episode of The Sustainable Angler I had the pleasure of interviewing New York Times best selling author Monte Burke. You may recognize some of Burke's books, such as Saban: The Making of a Coach or Sowbelly: the Obsessive Quest for the World Record Largemouth Bass, but his latest book is Lords of the Fly: Madness, Obsession and the Hunt for the World-Record Tarpon is an excellent read filled with stories of fly fishing legends like Steve Huff, Tom McGuane and Jim Harrison. We dive into Lords of the Fly, but also talk about the environmental threats to tarpon fisheries like Homosassa, FL; how fly fishing is cool again and the conservation ethos of the next generation; taking a vacation from your phone in the Everglades; and much more! Thanks for listening and I hope you enjoy!Special thanks to Monte Burke for taking the time do an interview on The Sustainable Angler podcast. Also, thank you to Fish Gods for supporting this episode of The Sustainable Angler, and don't forget to check out their Clean Earth Bag and support their Kickstarter campaign!
