State lawmakers are reviving a bill that would allow San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland to deploy automated cameras to enforce excessive speeding. Assembly Bill 23-36 comes in response to the uptick in traffic violence and deaths during the pandemic, and the cameras would track license plates similarly to a red-light camera, speeders would then get their ticket in the mail.
To discuss further, KCBS Radio news anchors Melissa Culross and Eric Thomas spoke with San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu. who had previously introduced this bill when he was a member of the California State Assembly.
