Hey everyone I’m Pastor Gary Hoban and welcome to Refinery Life Australia.
This year our goal is to release a new video / Podcast every Monday Wednesday and Friday.
To begin the new year we are starting our Friday messages with Experiencing the Great Salvation of God” this series will enlarge or concepts of what God has provided for us in and through Jesus.
He came to do something more than just give us a ticket to heaven.
This is week Five and we are talking about.
Salvation in the future tense
Text
Romans 13:11-12 (ESV)
11 Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.
12 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armour of light.
We truely have a great salvation.
So we should understand the amazing fullness of the salvation that God gives us through faith in Jesus and cooperation with the Holy Spirit as He works within us.
The Holy Spirit led the New Testament writers to relate salvation in a variety of ways.
Commonly it is described in terms like justification and regeneration.
The New Testament portrays salvation in the present tense as a process that started with our conversion and continues from day to day.
God is presently at work in us to deliver us from the sin that surrounds us.
This is not salvation from the punishment of sin or the very presence of sin.
Rather, it is salvation from the power of sin.
If you disregard any phase of our great salvation, your spiritual life won’t be cull and complete.
If you fail to appreciate what God has done for you in the past, you will live in uncertainty in the present and with anxiety about the future.
Today I want to focus on our salvation in the future.
We have to admit that sometimes salvation is over emphasised, which results in neglecting God’s will in the present.
Others have thought of Jesus only as a funeral director who comes at the time of death to carry the soul into the presence of God.
It is disturbing that this is how some see the New Testament teachings about the Lord’s gracious provisions for us in both the present and the future.
Understanding what the New Testament teaches about salvation in the future can be a great source of comfort to an elderly believer and a thrilling challenge to a young disciple.
Understanding our salvation in the future can help us discover what the ultimate values of life are and what the ultimate victory will be.
