Rom. 3:9-20
What we see in this section are eight things…
a) the capacity to be good enough doesn’t exist
b) no one understands
c) no one seeks God
d) all have turned aside
e) together they have become worthless
f) there is no fear of God before their eyes
g) the Bible builds a irrefutable case against humanity
h) the whole world is accountable to God
Romans 3:21-25
1. God is a god of relationship, v. 21
Notice two things:
a) God didn’t wait for us to come looking for it, he “manifested” it, put it on display for the world to see.
b) the entire Old Testament, the “law and Prophets” tells us about it
2. What Jesus accomplished is enough for anyone, v. 22
a) life-perfect
b) death- sufficient
c) resurrection- confirming
3. God’s goodness exceeds your badness, v. 23
“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and (all) are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood…”
“redemption”- means the freedom that comes from the payment of a ransom.
“propitiation”- means that God is not mad at you because of your sins
4. You can experience this for yourself, v. 25
a) acknowledge- means you not just agree with but understand the consequences of these truths for your life.
b) acceptance- means you accept what Christ has done on your behalf.
c) actuality -means the truths of the Gospel are actually being experienced and displayed in your life.
