This week David Hollander, author of   How Basketball Can Save The World: 13 Guiding Principles for Reimagining What’s Possible joins Joanne to discuss the intriguing premise of his new book.

David argues that the 13 principles of basketball outlined by the man who created the sport, James Naismith, offer more than lessons on how to play basketball, but provide insight into what is needed at this moment in time to better our world. He explains how several of the principles including #3 balance of force and skill, #4 positionless, and #11 antidote to isolation and loneliness can do that.

In addition to being an author, Dave is the Assistant Dean and Clinical Professor with the Tisch Institute for Global Sports at NYU’s School of Professional Studies where he teaches a course on the subject of his book. He also sits on the board of ESPNw and the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute.
