Hey everyone I’m Gary Hoban and welcome to Refinery Life Church.
Thinking about the Cross is the theme for Tuesday evenings in April.
As Christians, we live with the inspiration of a crucified and risen Saviour.
God’s gift to us on the cross motivates us to unselfish service.
Today’s message is titled The Glory of the Cross.
Paul’s argument in Galatians is that if these gentile Christians submit to circumcision as a symbol of their commitment to the Jewish law, they have nullified the power of the cross of Christ.
Their circumcision would be a sign of dependence on the law and not grace for salvation.
The law is not the gospel of Christ, it is not a gospel at all.
This thought is at the heart of our Scripture reading today.
It is summed up in our text, Galatians 6:14, But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Paul glorified not in the law but in the cross.
