I agree with Nicholas that real time settlement is the killer feature of Lightning Network. Which makes me thing that I am not sure that Lightning is at the end the payment layer. What I mean is that in its essence Lightning is SWIFT on steroids, but maybe not VISA? Maybe for paying at the merchant we will need something on top of Lightning, not Lightning itself. Similarly how at the beginning of Bitcoin years ago we didn't recognised that the layer 1 is not good for paying for coffee.

good luck
