What Cries Out
Have you ever gone into a building or a high-rise and wonder if it is structurally safe? We go into office buildings, stores and even our homes and we don’t think about it. But why should we? We have rules, codes and regulations in place to ensure our safety, and we expect those to implemented with the utmost care. That’s not what happened in this case we’re going to cover. Innocent people were going about their lives, but little did they know that they were to be caught in a hellish nightmare, with no escape as 42,000 thousand tons of concrete, twisted steel and debris collapsed upon them.
This was not a natural disaster, nor was it an act of terrorism. This is a case about greed and corruption. It’s about a man and city officials who valued money and profit over human lives. But it’s also the opposite, it’s about human strength, survival and a country coming together to demand changes. It would be known as the worst peace- time disaster in South Korea’s history.
